TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES FIT AT WARRENS EYE CARE CENTRE

  • SOFT CONTACT LENSES

  • SCLERAL LENSES

  • HYBRID CONTACT LENSES

  • ORTHO- K LENSES

Soft lenses are made from gel-like, water-containing plastics called hydrogels. These lenses are very thin and pliable and conform to the front surface of the eye.

Hybrid contact lenses are designed to provide wearing comfort that rivals soft or silicone hydrogel lenses, combined with the crystal-clear optics of gas permeable lenses. Hybrid lenses have a rigid gas permeable central zone, surrounded by a "skirt" of hydrogel or silicone hydrogel material.

Scleral contact lenses are much bigger than a hybrid or a gas permeable (GP) lens. Similar to a hybrid, the scleral vaults over the cornea; however, the whole scleral lens is made of a gas permeable material even the portion of the scleral lens that lands on the white part of the eye (sclera) In addition to providing a more stable fit.  Scleral lenses sometimes are more comfortable than smaller GP lenses on a keratoconic eye because they don't exert any pressure on the sensitive corneal tissue.

Ortho-k Lenses are like an orthodontic retainer for your eyes. Wearing the specially designed gas permeable lenses at night can gently reshape your cornea in order to stop the progression of nearsightedness .
